The first ever car was incredibly slower than the cars of today. All of the supercars from today have a lot more BHP than the first car. The Mclaren F1 for example has so mutch power that it can propell itself up to 231 miles per hour (MPH) and 60 comes in at around 2.1 seconds and that is the most powerfull production car on the planet. The land speed record is now held by thrust scc and it is 763.035 MPH (more than 3x the maximum speed or the Mclaren F1). The only problem was that it didn't turn any way, It didn't have and brakes and also it wasn't road legal. Even so it had the land record under it's power and that was all that mattered. It also stopped by using a parachute that could only be used once and it took up a lot of fuel and it cost a lot of money.
